Day 14 Paleo

I want to start updating this thing more, but I always forget. I’m always on my personal tumblr: http://www.tumblr.com/blog/zotscrambles lurking but never update anything. BUT ANYWAY! Here I am.

Paleo has been going good for the most part. I would say for about 5 days straight I had a massive headache and felt dizzy most of the time. My coach said it’s probably from sugar withdraws. He’s probably right since I was a major sugar junkie.

Today I am feeling great again! I’ve been going to bed at a decent time, and I’m eating four meals per day with protein and veggies. Last night as my boyfriend was eating cookies, I didn’t even care. Usually I would be all over cookies.. but now I treat fruit as candy and I’m satisfied with that! I’m trying to lose fat so I’m trying not to indulge in fruit as much, so when I do have fruit, It’s amazing.

My boyfriend also told me I’m getting skinny. Which is always nice to hear. He said that he wishes he was getting skinny, but he’s not going to get skinny by eating cookies! He also has a massive stock of airheads that he devours. He says he’s “maintaining” his weight. lol it just cracks me up!

At Crossfit I’ve been setting mini goals for myself. My first goal was to kick into a handstand. I got it done in about 5 minutes. My next goal is toes to bar. This might be a little more difficult.

I did my WOD this morning at 6:30. I usually go at this time because I work during the day and I would never feel like going after work. Plus nobody ever goes at 6:30 so I’m usually by myself. I think it’s totally an advantage since it’s kind of like personal training. I like all of the attention.

Today’s WOD:

Green writing is my time and modifications. Those snatches killed me because I did a 2k row yesterday and max ring dips! But I’m pretty proud of myself.

Then I came home and made a yummy paleo breakfast consisting of turkey sausage and 2 fried eggs. I was planning on having strawberries too but I was too full for them.

Day 9 Paleo

Ah, I made it through yet another weekend! Super proud of myself. I think Saturday night was the hardest for me. I went out to eat with a bunch of friends and EVERYONE got a milkshake. I ended up getting eggs with a bunch of breakfast meat. But, I survived. Milkshakes don’t make you skinny.

Here are starting stats:

166.5 lbs

body fat 34.9 %

As of Saturday my weight was

159.8 Not too shabby for one week. I’m sure it was all water weight but I count it as a loss. It feels good to see the 150’s.

My WOD this morning was:

1.  Ground to Shoulder: 5-4-3-2-1 (75# was my highest 1 rep)

2a. 4x5 Hurdle Hop AFAP, rest :10 (hurdle hopped 22ft)

2b. 4x7 CTB Pull Ups, rest 2min (used thick band)

Hurdle hops are my new favorite!

Day 2 1/15/12

I’ve had a great weekend. Yesterday I was on the verge of cheating with cookies and milk but I made it through! The body fat testing was great, except when the doctor pinched my thigh! That was painful.  He also said he could tell I recently lost weight. I was happy to hear that since no one else has said anything to me, but a man I had never met before could tell. So, if I lost weight/inches by just exercising and not eating well, I can’t wait for the results of eating well and exercising!

I don’t know my body fat % yet

But I do know:

Height: 5’3”

Weight: 166.5

The Doctor also took my measurements so I’ll know that sometime during the week.

So my WOD yesterday was:

In teams of 2 or 3: w/ Megan and Hollie

:30 Row

:30 Push Up (knees) / Pull Up (ring rows, in my case) / Wall Ball (10lbs) / Sit Up (3 sets at each)

:30 Rest

*You will go through this WOD in a “follow the leader” fashion.  By the end each person will have completed 12 intervals of Rowing, 3 intervals at each movement and 12 intervals of Rest.  For example; each person will perform Row, Push Up, Rest 3x then go right into Row, Pull Up, Rest 3x…continuing until all 4 movements are completed.

Score: 596 reps

I felt good throughout the workout. I thought it was going to be a disaster since I hadn’t worked out since Monday. I think I could have worked harder though.

TODAY’S WOD

1.  Push Press TNG:  5x3 55#

2.  5 Rounds, rest 3mins b/w:

5 Tough Front Squats

10 T2B (raised knees)

10 Jumping Lunges

I’m going to start taking pictures of a lot of my meals, but it’s hard sometimes since I have 3 cats and they try to steal my protein.

Today is Paleo day!

Super excited to get started on this. I’m going to Crossfit in about an hour to get weighed and scientifically have my body fat measured.. I will also be taking “before” photos of everyone who wants them.

I just finished breakfast, here is what I had:

2 slices of Trader Joe’s turkey bacon

2 scrambled eggs

green tea with lemon.

I didn’t want to over stuff myself since I’ll be working out soon. I figure today is going to be hell since I’ve been a major slacker and haven’t been to the box since Monday. That’s the longest I’ve ever gone and I physically feel like a slob because of it.

Why am I like this?

I am crazy when it comes to food. I started the new year off by eating awesome and then once my box announced that we will be having a paleo challenge starting the 14th.. I go crazy and start binge eating. Why? Because I know I won’t be able to eat junk for a while. And the thing is I hate eating junk, I hate the way it makes me feel and I’ve seen what eating junk all day does to people.. it makes you OBESE!

Just my little rant for today. I can’t wait for tomorrow to come!

Getting prepared.

My Crossfit box is having a 30 day Paleo Challenge starting this Sunday. On Saturday they will be having a group of science students come in to do body fat testing. I am both nervous and excited for this. I’ve done paleo half assed before a couple months ago, but it was the holiday season and I couldn’t stick with it. This time I am determined to kick major ass. I created this blog to meet people who are also doing Paleo and hopefully we can encourage each other.

When it comes to eating I like to keep it pretty simple, I’m a former vegetarian so a lot of meat still freaks me out. I generally will only eat chicken breast, beef (ground, steak cuts) and turkey. Not a big fan of pork and seafood (although, I may try tuna).

I would say that I’m about 30 lbs overweight. I have never had a flat belly before and I don’t think it’s possible for me to ever have one.

Once Saturday is here, I will jot down my stats.
